When I launched Kinetiv in July, we focused on one thing: building Microsoft 365 Copilot agents. Even then, the idea was never to start with the tool.
Since then, the people I’ve worked with have taught me more than any platform has.
What I kept seeing
Most of the leaders and teams I work with already have capable AI tools. What they don't have is time. They're busy doing their jobs, so they use AI as a personal assistant for a task here and there, while the work itself runs the way it always has. The bigger gains come when AI improves how teams and workflows run, not just individual tasks.
That's not a failing. And the tools change nearly every week, which makes keeping up alone close to impossible.
The pattern that works
One recent build started with a short conversation with an IT quality assurance program lead about how his reviews worked. Within a couple of days, I'd shared a first agent with him. He used it on real work and came back with what helped and what didn't.
Between our meetings, the AI platform added a new capability that made agents more capable and easier to steer. At our next session we put it to work, and the agent got much better at what he actually needed. Today it's his agent; I support it.
That's the pattern I've followed on every build since: talk with the person closest to the work, put something real in their hands within days, learn from how they use it, and keep improving as AI improves. It's how I built a request intake agent for a bank's comms team, a quote-and-payment desk for a small accounting practice, and Ask Kinetiv, the assistant on this site.
Every AI build follows the same loop.
Learning by doing, myself included
I've had to learn this way too. Where I was six months ago doesn't compare to where I am today, and almost every week something new changes what I think is possible. Some of that meant letting go of old habits, including my need to control every step.
It paid off. Our July launch took about six weeks. Repositioning Kinetiv and rebuilding this site took less than one.
Why we changed
There's a whole universe of AI capability out there, well beyond any one platform. So we use the right tool for the job, including the ones you already have.
Kinetiv now works across four areas: AI Strategy, AI Adoption for Teams, AI Build & Run, and AI Leadership. Each starts in the same place: how your people work today. We build their AI skills, and we build AI into the work itself, so your business gets more from AI, safely and well. Here's how we work.
When your people use AI more effectively, your business goes further, faster. If you're not sure where to start, you're not behind. Most organizations are right where you are. A free AI Planning Workshop is a good first step.
